Honk if you love Bitcoin! A BTC-mobile piloted by the “Bitcoin Ambassadors” team is taking crypto on an 8,000-kilometer European rally car adventure, making rounds in the Baltic Sea Circle Rally race. The car is adorned and sponsored by Bitcoin companies, promoting cryptocurrency adoption on their journey.
The Bitcoin Ambassadors, Cercatrova, democratically elected president of the German-speaking Bitcoin community Einundzwanzig, and his copilot Daktari, embarked on the orange-pilling adventure this week. Their goal is to bring Bitcoin to the people and raise money for a Panamanian coffee farmer and an El Salvadoran peer2peer ride sharing app developed on lightning. While spreading Bitcoin adoption, they also aim to engage in at least 30 conversations with people about cryptocurrency.
Cercatrova shared his experience discussing Bitcoin with interested observers and teaching them how the cryptocurrency works seamlessly. Their car is equipped with a candy machine that accepts Bitcoin, allowing newbies to try out Bitcoin transactions for themselves. Enthusiasts from all over the world can also interact with the car through a remote-play jukebox and a Lightning-switch horn with just a small Bitcoin payment.
While the Bitcoin Ambassadors rally team embraces the power of the Lightning Network, skeptics argue about the limitations of the technology. Critics claim that Lightning hampers decentralization and is more prone to network disruptions. Nevertheless, the Bitcoin Ambassadors have so far raised approximately 4 million Satoshis or $1,200 for charity through their journey.
Taking the Bitcoin conversation to the streets, the rally car adventure illustrates cryptocurrency’s potential in capturing public interest and promoting adoption. The Bitcoin Ambassadors team aims to change perceptions and educate the public on the benefits of cryptocurrencies. As their journey continues, they hope their message of Bitcoin adoption reaches more and more receptive ears. The team will complete the Baltic Sea Circle Rally by the end of June, generating more interest and opening conversations about cryptocurrency along the way.
