In a novel move that combines the worlds of music and blockchain technology, rapper and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg has introduced a non-fungible token (NFT) collectible series. This series, known as the Snoop Dogg Passport Series, is designed to evolve in utility as he embarks on his summer tour, starting July 7 in Vancouver.

The Passport Series is likened to a “tour poster that evolves with each place Snoop stops on tour.” However, it offers more than just a visual representation of the tour. NFT holders will gain access to exclusive content, merchandise, artwork, and experiences affiliated with the music icon himself. The initiative aims to enhance fan engagement and bring them along for the ride as Snoop travels the globe. To further sweeten the deal, the Passport Series also includes Snoop Selects, a curated set of NFT artwork airdropped to passport holders.

Snoop Dogg’s enthusiasm for embracing new digital technologies and integrating them into his brand is evident by his statement, “I’ve always been a pioneer, and digital merch is part of the future.” This move could potentially inspire other artists to follow suit and explore innovative ways to engage with their fans.

The Snoop Dogg Passport Series was developed in collaboration with Web3 platform Transient Labs and talent agency WME. Passports can be purchased for around $42 or 0.025 ETH via Crossmint, an NFT payment processor. Alternatively, buyers can also use various crypto wallets to make their purchase.

The rapper’s son, Cordell Broadus, who serves as the COO of Transient Labs, contributed to the project’s creation. Both Snoop and his son’s involvement in NFT collection and cryptocurrency investment highlights the mainstream appeal of the growing crypto market. The rapper even expressed plans to turn his record label, Death Row Record, into the first major label in the metaverse.

Having launched his inaugural NFT collection called A Journey with the Dogg in March 2021 and revealing his plans to develop the Snoopverse in the metaverse world The Sandbox in December 2021, Snoop Dogg’s persistent push into the digital realm continues to make waves and set precedents. While the future remains uncertain, the blend of music, NFTs, and interactive audience experiences exemplifies the potential of technology in reshaping the entertainment industry.
